Imtiaz visited Chamkila's son Jaiman Chamkila's home in Ludhiana multiple times after securing the film's rights. According to reports, the film would be a mix of facts and fiction. The biopic's script has been written, and it is expected to include details about the late singer's love life, controversies, songs, and assassination. The project is being collectively produced by Window Seat Films and Reliance Entertainment.
