Diljit Dosanjh has been cast in the biopic of Indian human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was kidnapped and assassinated by police officers in 1995. The only thing left is to make an official statement. When a film about such delicate themes is developed, the community is always concerned about its historical accuracy, and this time is no exception.
Making to official Diljit Dosanjh took to his social media accounts and shared a note written by the wife of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra.
The lengthy note shared by Bibi Paramjit Kaur read as "In last couple of years multiple people had approached us for making a movie on life and work of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra but most groups wanted to do crowd funding to produce the movie which we do not want to be part of. So Khalra Family decided to give the permissions for this project to Mr. Honey Trehan and team in which Daljeet Dosanjh is playing the role. Khalra Mission Organization is not involved in this project and family’s association to this project is to review the script and provide inputs. We will also review the final movie once complete for the final go/no-go.
We are aware of concerns within the community that Bollywood has in past misrepresented Sikh Sangarsh movement and we also do share the same concerns. We will try our best to provide feedback to the film production team and keep the narrative on the right track.

She went on to say that in the end, they decided to give Honey Trehan and Diljit Dosanjh permission. She further highlighted that the project does not involve the Khalra Mission Organization. The Khalra family will study the film's script and provide necessary advice to the team in order to ensure historical correctness in the project.
