Shahid Kapoor opens up about 'Haider'; Actor tells vividly about doing his role for free in the Vishal Bhardwaj movie

Shahid Kapoor is undoubtedly on of the most enriched actors of Bollywood. The man who made his filmy breakthrough in early 2000's has after all this time paved his own way while establishing as one of the finest actors of the Indian film industry. From rom-coms to romantic dramas, Shahid has touched down the lines of movies of every genres available. One among his many movies that received utter critical acclamation has to be his 2014 film Haider under the directorial of ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj.

Shahid Kapoor's acclaimed character in 'Haider'

During a recent interview with a media platform, the B-town star has talked unabashedly about the 2014 movie wherein he unveiled doing the entire creation for free. Yes, you heard it correct! Shahid Kapoor has done 'Haider' for absolutely no money but out of professionalism and respect for the storyline. During the whole whole conversation, the actor said about his character in the respective movie as to be the most complex and challenging role he ever played. "Every actor who has played Hamlet (on which Haider was based) has said that they never felt like they were able to completely understand the character or completely express everything that the character went through. So I was again one of those people," he further added. 

The reason of doing 'Haider' for free?

while remembering his movie, Mr. Kapoor said it was one of the kind movie where he acted for free ever! Continuing his core memory while approached by the filmmaker he said,  "They told me that they wanna make this movie and we need five months of your life and we want you to shave your head and go bald but we can't pay you. So I said 'and what makes you think I'll do it?' and Vishal sir looked at me and said, 'coz its Hamlet and I'm making it." Shahid later realized that this magnanimous movie can only come to life when he won't demand his whopping fee. 

About 'Haider'

Meanwhile talking about 'Haider', it is a 2014 Hindi drama crime thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and co-produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur. The movie is a modern day adaptation of Hamlet, a classic tragedy by William Shakespeare. Talking about it's star casts, apart of Shahid Kapoor, it also star Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Shraddha Kapoor and heavenly actor Irrfan Khan.
