Karan Johar recalls his dad Yash Johar on his 20th death anniversary; Pens down an emotional note

As today marks the 20th anniversary of the legend, Yash Johar's demise, Karan Johar took over the occasion and recalled his father by writing a long note, filled with emotion.

If not the greatest, then Karan Johar has to be the most iconic filmmaker/Producer of the country who has molded the Bollywood industry like nobody else. The father of Dharma Productions, KJo is known for his signature filmmaking that mostly revolves around romance and thrilling drama. The accomplished filmmaker of the Hindi movie industry who has served his mesmerizing masterpieces over the past decades surely needs no further introduction. But it was his father Yash Johar whose legacy he is carrying forward and thus walking in the footsteps of the legend once walked. Today KJo recalls his late father on his 20th anniversary and penned down a long note remembering the iconicism Yash Ji left on Bollywood.

Yash Johar's 20th Death Anniversary

Today, June 26, 2024, marks the loss of one of the most prolific dignitaries of Bollywood who was also Karan Johar's late father, Yash Johar. As the day also marks the 20th anniversary of the legend's demise, KJo took over the occasion and recalled his father by writing a long note, filled with emotion. Taking over his Instagram, the modern-day filmmaker shared a carousel post featuring his heavenly dad with his lifelong endeavors. Below the post, his note read, "I can’t believe it’s been 20 years. My biggest fear was losing a parent… August 2nd,2003 my father told me he had a malignant tumour… my worst nightmare was staring at me and yet it was my duty as his child to stay positive and keep the faith… but the worst thing about instincts are that. they never lie."

But KJo's also put forward how his father's mammoth goodwill has brought goodness into their lives. Calling Yash Ji, a "solid, soulful and selfless man", he divulged in calling his a family man who always kept his relation above everything. Lastly, he talked about the unfathomable legacy and remarked about his father's soul looking over them from the clouds. "and has left a legacy of love that my mother and I still live by. I wish he knew our children. but I do know he’s watching over them and us….all the time. Love you, Papa."

Speaking of Karan's Workfront, he last served his fanatics with the year's finest sports drama, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. Featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao, the film has amassed a great response from the audience and went onto become a big success, both critically and commercially. Apart from the sports drama, his iconic sleeves also include the 2023 romantic drama Rocky Aur rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt which became one of the most buzzing films of the previous year.
