Kannada Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa Arrested in Connection with Murder Case

Renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of Renuka Swamy, a man from Karnataka. According to reports, actress Pavithra Gowda and 10 others have also been detained in connection with the case. There is some confusion regarding Pavithra's relationship with Darshan, with some sources calling her his wife and others his longtime partner.

Why Darshan Thoogudeepa Got Arrested?

Darshan and Pavithra were taken into custody by Bengaluru police. Darshan, 47, was picked up from Mysuru and brought back to Bengaluru for questioning. This development follows confessions from three individuals who admitted to killing Renuka Swamy under Darshan's instructions.

Renuka Swamy, 33, was from Chitradurga. His body was found in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, on June 9. The case has been registered at the Kamakshipalya police station, and around 10 people have been detained so far.

Official Statements

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S. Girish confirmed Darshan's involvement, stating that he has been taken for questioning. "In connection with a murder case registered in Kamakshipalya Police Station limits of Bengaluru West division on June 9, one of the actors of the Kannada film industry has been secured and he is being questioned. The details are yet to be ascertained and the matter is under investigation," DCP Girish said in a press conference.

The police have tightened security at Darshan's house in RR Nagar to prevent any untoward incidents.
