However, it was clear that his heart lay in the world of acting. This encounter paved the way for his debut in the 1974 film "Ankur."

Despite his promising debut, Dalip Tahil faced nearly six years of relentless struggle to secure acting opportunities in the competitive world of Indian cinema. During this challenging period, he sustained himself by participating in plays, engaging in modeling assignments, and working in advertisements. In 1980, his perseverance paid off as he seized the opportunity to act in the film "Shaan" and made a cameo appearance in the iconic film "Gandhi." However, it was his role in the movie "Baazigar" that catapulted him to fame when he portrayed the character of Madan Chopra.

As with many public figures, Dalip Tahil's journey has had its share of controversies. In 2018, he found himself in legal trouble when he was arrested by the Mumbai police for driving under the influence of alcohol. This incident led to a collision between his car and an autorickshaw, resulting in injuries to the autorickshaw passengers. More recently, Dalip Tahil has faced legal consequences in connection with this case.
