Brahmashirsha astra real life story and history:
It was once used by Ashwatthama, who hurled the Brahmashira astra against Arjuna. The Pandava countered it with the same weapon. Thus, to prevent the destruction, Narada and Vyasa stood between the two astras and asked the two warriors to withdraw their weapons.
Likewise, Arjuna, who was the perfect practitioner of 'Brahmacharya', was able to withdraw it while Ashwatthama had so many flaws, and hence, he was not able to call back his weapon. Thus, he aimed the astra at Uttarā's womb to kill the unborn Parikshita.

Brahmastra real life story and history:
It was once used by Maharaja Kaushika aka 'Brahmarshi Vishvamitra', who used the 'Brahmastra' against Maharishi Vasishta. However, 'Brahmastra' was swallowed by Vasishta's 'Brahmadanda Astra'.
In Ramayan, Indrajit used 'Brahmastra' against Lord Hanuman, but the latter was able to survive because of the boon given to him by Lord Brahma.
Even Lord Rama used Brahmastra several times. Once, against Jayanta who hurt Sita, against Mareecha, and in the last battle with Ravana. As per the mythological tale, the weapon was also aimed at Samudra (the sea god) in an order to carve a path out of the sea but as soon as the weapon was loaded, Samudra appeared and requested to withdraw the weapon. As per the ritual, once loaded, the Brahmastra must be discharged. Thus, it was aimed toward Dhrumatulya.
