This year, the celebrations were led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hosted the main event at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Marking the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga, the event highlighted Yoga's profound impact on young minds and bodies, aiming to unite thousands in the practice and promote global health and wellness.

The theme for this year's event, "Yoga for Self and Society," underscores the importance of Yoga in enhancing individual well-being and fostering societal harmony. Since 2015, Prime Minister Modi has spearheaded the International Day of Yoga celebrations at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

This year's festivities are set to be expansive, encompassing events across the nation. Notably, the "Yoga for Space" initiative will see all centres and units of ISRO engaging in programs focused on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). Reflecting Yoga's global reach, Embassies and Indian Missions abroad will also join in the celebrations, demonstrating the widespread influence of Yoga.
