'Gangubai Kathiawadi,' Alia Bhatt's long-awaited film, is finally scheduled to hit theatres. The producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film unveiled the new release date on Friday morning. The movie will now be released on February 25 in theatres.
On their official Twitter account, Bhansali Productions, the filmmaker's label, revealed the updated release date. The production firm tweeted, "Witness her reign in cinemas near you on 25th February 2022. " Due to the pandemic and lockdowns, the film's release date has been pushed back multiple times since March 2020.
The lead actress Alia Bhatt and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali were both infected with the virus during filming, which caused the release date to be pushed back.
Alia Bhatt portrays Gangubai Kathiawadi, a sex worker in Mumbai's Kamathipura who was forced into prostitution when she was young. Her journey as the head of a brothel and a political figure in Kamathipura is presented in the film.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak that struck India in March 2020, it has been postponed several times. Ajay Devgn plays an intriguing part in the film. It's based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi's book "Mafia Queens of Mumbai," which he wrote. In February, the film will have its global premiere at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.
