American singer Lisa Marie Presley passes away at 54; mother confirms demise

Lisa Marie Presley death news: Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, passed away on Thursday after being admitted to the hospital earlier that day, according to a statement from her mother. The vocalist was 54 years old.

In a statement released Thursday night, Priscilla Presley stated, "It is with a heavy heart that I must deliver the devastating news that my darling daughter Lisa Marie has left us. "She was the most passionate, powerful, and loving woman I have ever known."

Only a few hours earlier, Priscilla Presley had revealed Lisa Marie Presley had been taken to the hospital early on Thursday.

Two days before being admitted to the hospital, the artist attended the Golden Globes celebration in Los Angeles with her mother as part of the cast of Baz Luhrmann's critically praised biopic Elvis.

Presley, the sole child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1968. When her parents got divorced, Presley relocated to Los Angeles with her mother, but she later moved back to her father's Graceland house in Memphis.

To commemorate her father's passing 20 years earlier, Presley released the duet 'Don't Cry Daddy' in 1997. She later pursued a career in music, following in her father's footsteps, and has released three albums: To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005), and Storm & Grace (2012).
