400 Ragis perform Shabad Kirtan at Red Fort on 400th Prakash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji

It's a historic day for India as the Government of India has organised a mega celebration of the 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Red Fort in New Delhi on Thursday.

400 Ragis added stars to the event by performing Shabad Kirtan at Red Fort on the auspicious occasion of the 400th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

The programme has been organised by the Government of India in association with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).

During the two-day event, ragis and children from across the country participated in ‘Shabad Kirtan’. Besides, the celebrations included a grand light and sound show depicting the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Apart from this, the traditional martial art of Sikhs 'Gatka' was organised.

The programme highlights the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, who sacrificed his life to protect religion and human values, ideals and principles in world history.

He was executed for supporting the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits on the orders of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. His death anniversary is commemorated as Shaheedi Divas every year on November 24.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be participating in the celebrations and will address the gathering at 9:15 pm, becoming the first-ever Prime Minister to address the nation from the Red Fort after the sunset. He will also release a commemorative coin and postage stamp on the occasion.
